Dr Guenther has had a long and distinguished career in optics and photonics, both as an academic and as a contributor to the economic development of New Mexico. As a distinguished defense scientist he is known throughout the world for his work in nuclear simulation, laser technologies, pulsed power and nuclear technology. He is the recipient of numerous awards including the Distinguished Senior Executive Award presented to him by President Ronald Reagan. He has served on numerous government advisory boards and the United States Air Force, the United States Army, the Ballistic Missile Defense Office, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, and the Department of Defense, and the Department of Energy. This includes being a member of Net Technical Assessment (NTE) and Independent Review Teams (IRT). He holds a PhD in Physics and Chemistry for Penn State University.
