Congratulations to
Diana Habel-Rodriguez, Carlee E. Ashley,
Darin Leonhardt, Arezou Khoshakhlagh, Andrew De La Riva,
Erika J. Cooley, Ryan Molecke & Martin J. Donovan who were
awarded the IGERT fellowship for 2006.
This exciting program bridges the distinct properties of the
nanoscale to microsystem functionality. The integrated academic and
research activities highlight our capabilities and unique breadth in materials
synthesis and self-assembly, nanolithography, interrogative platforms, and
functional micro/macrosystems.
Special emphasis is placed on translating these technologies to
radical changes in the way we diagnose, treat and ultimately prevent cancer.
The Nanoscience and Microsystems Program highlights
three technical thrusts; Informational
Nanotechnology, Nano-Bio Interfaces and Complex
Functional Systems.
All participants in the Nanoscience and Microsystems Program are American
citizens or permanent resident working towards
their Ph.D. degree in a participating UNM graduate field. The program requires that IGERT
fellows complete a curriculum of integrated courses.
This program is a collaborative effort among
faculty and fellows from
several different scientific departments.
About NSF's IGERT Program
The Integrative Graduate Education and Research Traineeship (IGERT)
program seeks to train PhD scientists and engineers with the interdisciplinary
background and the technical, professional and personal skills needed to address
the global questions of the future. Through the use of innovative curricula and
internships, and by focusing on problem-centered training, these programs give
their graduates the edge needed to become leaders in their chosen fields.
