- Professor Steven Brueck will be a plenary speaker at the European Optical Society 3rd Topical Meeting on Optical Microsystems (OµS '09) held in Capri, Italy on September 27-30, 2009. Professor Brueck will be speaking on "Imaging Interferometric Microscopy - Resolution to the Linear Systems Limits". More details on the meeting can be found at the conference website here.

- The Center for High Technology Materials turns 25 this year! To mark the occasion, we are holding a technical symposium and open house on August 14, 2009 to highlight the innovative research performed at the Center and showcase its many unique capabilites. - Ganesh Balakrishnan is now an Assistant Professor in UNM's School of Engineer, formerly the Technical Director at the Integrated NanoMaterials Core Facility at California NanoSystems Institute, UCLA. His post-doctoral research was performed at UNM's Center for High Technology Materials, with research interests including compound semiconductor based optoelectronics and novel epitaxial processes.
- Assistant Prof Mani Hossein-Zadeh has joined UNM's School of Engineering. His main research area is photonics and is interested in RF/microwave- photonics devices and systems, optomechanical oscillators, ultra high-Q optical microresonators and bio/chemical photonic sensors. He was a postdoctoral scholar in the Department of Applied Physics, California Institute of Technology with a PhD from the University of Southern California.
