Research

Our research group is  affiliated with the Center for High Technology Materials and the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering. We are also affiliated with the Optical Science and Engineering program at UNM.

The main expertise of the group is the growth and development of semiconductor lasers. Of late we have focused on Vertical External Cavity Surface Emitting Lasers (VECSELs) also known as semiconductor disk lasers. Our group grows the semiconductors, processess them and characterizes them as well. We collaborate with the University of Arizona (Prof. Jerry Moloney) and AFRL, Dayton on these projects.

Below are the links to some of our prominent projects. These include Quantum Dot, Quantum Dash (to come soon) and Quantum Well based lasers. Our research interests also include basic semiconductor materials research including growth and characterization.

We operate state of art laboratories including Molecular Beam Epitaxy reactors and related characterization facilities.
