M.H.Z group is mainly focused on applied research in Photonics and
RF/Microwave-Photonics with emphasis on physics and applications of high quality factor (high-Q) optical
micro-resonators. We develop new photonic devices and techniques that have applications in
optical communication, RF/microwave systems and bio/chemical sensing. We
also search for novel physical phenomena in photonic devices that can lead to a
better understanding
of existing principles or may open new frontiers in fundamental research. Although
most of the activties in M.H.Z. group are experimental, our research combines both
theoretical and
experimental investigations based on the fundamental principles of light-matter
interaction and RF/Microwave engineering.
